Ethiopian Airlines

Ethiopian Airlines Group has acquired the Airbus A350-1000, making it Africa’s first airline to operate this largest and most advanced passenger aircraft.

The A350-1000’s enhanced capacity is believed to be well-suited to Ethiopian’s busiest routes, helping meet rising global demand with improved efficiency. Airbus reports that the aircraft’s innovative carbon-fiber fuselage, wings, and fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce engines contribute to a 25% reduction in fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions.

In another development, Ethiopian Airlines has expanded its network in South Asia by launching five weekly flights to Dhaka, Bangladesh. This new route provides travelers from Bangladesh with convenient access to over 155 destinations, including major cities in Africa, Europe, and North America. During the launch ceremony, Ethiopian Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, Lema Yadecha, underscored the strategic importance of the route in strengthening socio-economic ties between Ethiopia and Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Sikder Bodiruzzaman, hailed the new connection as a gateway for business, investment, and cultural exchange, highlighting the promising cooperation between the two countries.
