Boeing's Africa office, based in Addis Ababa, will officially begin operations in October 2024, according to Henok Teferra, Managing Director of Boeing Africa. The American aerospace company chose Ethiopia for its African headquarters due to the nation's achievements in aviation and its status as a continental hub.
Henok explained that the new office will enhance Boeing's collaboration with Ethiopian Airlines, particularly in aircraft component production. Ethiopian Airlines has already been manufacturing and supplying wire harnesses for Boeing, and with Boeing's support, it is now producing insulation blankets at the Kilinto Industrial Park.
The opening of Boeing's African headquarters is expected to create more opportunities for Ethiopia to solidify its role as Africa's aviation center. Boeing, a leading global aerospace company, designs and manufactures commercial airplanes, defense products, and space systems, further positioning Ethiopia as a key player in the aviation industry.
