Ethiopia and South Sudan have signed a new agreement for air transportation services that will replace the temporary permission that was previously granted. The agreement was signed by the Director General of the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority and his counterpart from the Government of South Sudan.
The new agreement will provide a legal framework for the temporary permission flights and will adhere to the standards and principles set by the International Civil Aviation Organization. It is comprehensive and permanent, and it is expected to have a positive impact on Ethiopian Airlines, which has a significant share of the African market and is known for connecting Africa to the rest of the world. Additionally, the civil aviation authorities of both countries have agreed to collaborate on various issues, including search and rescue efforts, and are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding to formalize their cooperation.
Ethiopian Airlines currently has two regular flights a day to Juba, the capital of South Sudan.
