The Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority (ECTA) announced that 46,000 tons of coffee were shipped abroad in June, generating USD 218 million in revenue.

The fiscal year also saw a significant export of coffee. The country exported a total of 298,500 tons of coffee throughout the year, exceeding the previous year's figures by 20%. This surge in volume translated to a 7.5% increase in income, bringing Ethiopia's total coffee export earnings to USD 1.43 billion.

During the previous Ethiopian fiscal year, the country earned USD 1.3 billion in revenue from the export of around 240,000 tons of coffee.

Ethiopian coffee, celebrated worldwide for its quality and diverse flavors, ranging from winy to fruity and chocolatey, remains the country's leading export product. The country exports its coffee to above 50 countries.
However, experts highlight a major challenge. Ethiopia's coffee sector primarily exports raw beans, lacking value addition, which prevents the country from fully capitalizing on its abundant coffee resources.
