Gelila Manufacturing PLC, a local company which is engaged in shoe manufacturing, signed a lease agreement with the Industrial Parks Development Corporation to establish a shoe factory on 6,900 square meters of land in Bole Lemi Industrial Park.
With a capital of Birr 1.9 billion, the company aims to create 2,000 jobs and export its products to the international market. After becoming operational, the company will produce leather shoes and supply soles to other shoe factories.
Gelila has plans to expand its business into the textile industry, poultry business, and oil production. The CEO of the firm, Seleshi Woldeyes, stressed that the Government should give due attention to local investors and enhance its cooperation with the business community.
