Meta Platforms, in partnership with Ethio telecom, has announced a flagship initiative aimed at enhancing digital services in Ethiopia. This collaboration follows strategic discussions between Ethio telecom CEO Frehiwot Tamru and Meta’s Director of Business Development for the Middle East and Africa, Vikas Menon, along with senior Meta executives.

The partnership seeks to improve customers' digital experiences by increasing data usage and offering free access to Meta-Facebook services, even without a balance. Additionally, essential resources related to health, education, and job opportunities will be available for free, supporting informed and empowered communities.

Frehiwot emphasized the initiative’s focus on boosting digital inclusion in Ethiopia through both companies' platforms. The collaboration will also prioritize digital literacy programs, local content creation, cultural preservation, cybersecurity enhancements, and customer data privacy.
