Chamber to Construct HQ in Ethiopian Capital

The Board of Directors of the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Association is to request land from the city administration of the Ethiopia's capital to construct its headquarters reported sources.

The board of the AACCSA reached the decision to build its own headquarters three months after the resolution between it and the national chamber over the ownership of the seven-storey building housing both chambers.

The leaders of both chambers decided that the building will be owned by the national chamber with the AACCSA making using of two floors free of charge.

The AACCSA should not permanently reside on the two floors on the building owned by the national chamber and hence is going to construct its own building after much debate said Teferi Asfaw, Deputy Secretary General of the chamber.

The decision to construct its own building made by the Addis Ababa chamber is an indication of its commitment to the next generation according to Mulu Solomon President of the National Chamber.

The project to construct the HQ is still in the early stages said Ayalew Zegeye, President of the ACCSA declining to comment further on the details of the project.

It is to be remembered that the Addis Ababa chamber has already revealed plans to construct the Addis Africa International Exhibition Center to be developed on 11 hectares of land opposite the CMC residential complex.

It is expected that the center will have the capacity to seat 5000 people at once and will include a five star hotel at an estimated construction cost of 500 million birr.
