Chinese car manufacturer, Chery Commercial Vehicles International Corporation, is planning to explore investment opportunities in Ethiopia and will be sending representatives to the country soon. The company's General Manager, Mr. Jean Cui, discussed the possibility of establishing an assembly plant for Chery Commercial Vehicles in Ethiopia during a meeting with the Ethiopian Ambassador to China, Tefera Derbew.

The Ambassador emphasized Ethiopia's investment potential, particularly in the electric vehicle sector, and mentioned the government's incentives for international automakers. Mr. Cui expressed interest in Ethiopia's fast-growing economy and expanding middle class and noted the government's recent tax incentives for electric vehicles. Chery Automobile has been the leading Chinese automobile exporter for 19 consecutive years, and its subsidiary, KARRY, has been the sales champion of new energy commercial vehicles in China for two consecutive years.
