Ethiopian Embassy in Turkey Organizes a Business Forum

The Ethiopian Embassy in Ankara, in partnership with the Eskisehir Chamber of Industry, organized a business forum in Eskişehir, Turkey, on May 10, 2023.

During the event, Ethiopian Ambassador to Turkey, Adem Mohammed, encouraged Turkish investors to explore trade and investment opportunities in Ethiopia emphasizing that the forum was aimed at strengthening the trade and investment relationship between the two countries. The forum was attended by Turkish investors from various sectors, including manufacturing, construction, energy, and agriculture.

In addition to the business forum, Ethiopian delegates visited several industries in Eskişehir, Turkey, including TURAN agricultural machinery manufacturing industry, SARAR textile industry, ASLAN TAHIN, BESA, and ZELL furniture manufacturing industries.

Bilateral trade volume between Turkey and Ethiopia amounted to USD 398.8 million in 2019. The figure decreased to USD 272 million in 2020 even though Ethiopia’s exports to Turkey increased by USD 14 million within a year from USD 27 million, the export volume registered in 2019. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, there are approximately 200 Turkish companies in Ethiopia and the total investment volume of Turkish investors in Ethiopia surpasses USD 2 billion.
