Kefta gave training to 20 women-owned micro and small enterprises (MSE’s) in collaboration with Care Ethiopia.

The training focused on how the enterprises could use the services of Kefta and win tenders/bids, and promote their businesses, services and products. The enterprises have access to the Kefta package thanks to the opportunity availed to them by Care Ethiopia.Kefta Care training-1

During the training, the enterprises were able to learn the kind of business information they could access on the portal, kefta.2merkato.com. They also learned how they could effectively use the tender platform on the web (tender.2merkato.com) and on mobile app (2merkato Tenders). In addition, they were shown the benefits of the B2B portal of 2merkato.com and how they could use it to get business leads. It was demonstrated during the training how the trainees could relate the services with what they do. The enterprises were from the sectors of manufacturing (garment, catering, bakery and pastry, leather and leather products, embroidery, wood working, traditional clothing, handicraft, detergent); service (printing, embroidery and printing); construction (Terazzo production); urban agriculture (compost production).

This training is the first of two training sessions. Kefta will prepare another training for 25 women-owned MSE's in collaboration with Care Ethiopia. Care Ethiopia signed a contract with Kefta's owner, eBiz Online Solutions PLC, to make 50 women-owned MSE's beneficiaries of Kefta's services.

A brief training on digital literacy was given by Kefta.

Kefta is a portal developed and marketed by eBiz Online Solutions PLC – the owner of 2merkato.com. eBiz embarked on the project to create a web-based portal that will help MSE’s to have access to integrated business information and grow their businesses using technology. The goal is to help MSE’s to start looking for business opportunities on their own with the help of technology. MSE's have been winning tenders and getting business leads. 2 of the enterprise owners present in the training gave their testimonies that they won tenders and got leads that resulted in sales as a result of using Kefta’s services.

Kefta was developed in collaboration with SNV/LIWAY to specifically address MSE’s constraints of access to (business) information.
