Ethiopia: Dire Dawa Dry Port and Terminal Becomes Operational

Dire Dawa Dry Port

Dire Dawa Dry Port and Terminal, which was built at a cost of USD 68 million on 34.1 hectares of land, commenced services on Thursday. The dry port has a capacity to handle 128,000 containers annually when it becomes fully operational and is expected to reduce foreign currency expenditures.

The port is connected to the main Ethio-Djibouti railway and includes 10 hectares of internal concrete road. It also has a parking space which can host 140 trucks at once. The Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise used the inaugural ceremony of the port to announce its new logo and trademark.
