Twenty-one hotels in Oromia Regional State were awarded five to one star during the past five months. Oromia Culture and Tourism Bureau collaborated with the Ministry of Tourism to designate the stars to the hotels. In the past, stars were awarded to the hotels in the Regional State by the Federal Government. The Bureau awarded the stars after examining 31 hotels.
The award increases the number of star designated hotels in the Regional State to 87. However, the Bureau has not yet communicated the news to the 21 hotels. The announcement will be made publicly.
The Regional State’s Culture and Tourism Bureau also provided trainings for 2,520 individuals who are employed in hotels, resorts, and lodges found in Adama, Bishoftu, Batu, and Shashemene towns. The training was provided as part of the Bureau’s effort to increase the quality of tourist destinations in Oromia.
