Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) and the Ministry of Finance (MoF) vowed to create a solid and permanent EIC-MoF aftercare platform for Chinese companies. The institutions organized an aftercare workshop today together with the Chinese Commercial Councilors Office.

EIC’s Commissioner Lelise Nme, Deputy Commissioner Temesgen Tilahun, and MoF’s State Minister, H.E Semerita Sewasew addressed policy related questions raised from selected Chinese companies. They also stated that all government institutions will work towards addressing infrastructure, finance, security, and service related issues.

China is the biggest source of foreign direct investment to Ethiopia. Despite the impact of COVID-19, 30 Chinese investors were under project implementation phase during the first nine months of the 2021/2022 fiscal year. China also imported goods worth USD 370 million from Ethiopia in 2021.
