A forum on mobilization of mining and development which is focused on mineral resources and investment opportunities in Amhara Regional State’s mining sector was launched today in Bahir Dar city.

President of Amhara Regional State, Yilkal Kefale, and Minister of Ministry of Mines, Takele Uma, attended the opening ceremony of the forum.

During the forum’s opening, Yilekal Kefale revealed that work was underway to utilize the mining potential of Amhara Region. He also noted “encouraging results have been registered in the sector in Amhara Region by researching the potential of mineral resources, identifying the size of the reserves, and inviting investors to be engaged in it”. Amhara Region’s Mines Bureau Head, Haile Abebe, on his part said that investors were eyeing the region for its potentials in gold, opal, Jasso stone, coal, and iron ore mining. He noted that the Regional State would provide necessary support to local and foreign investors who wish to invest in the mining sector.
