During its performance briefing of the 100-day performance of the second quarter of the Ethiopian fiscal year that started on July 8, Ethiopia's Ministry of Finance related that extensive efforts have been made to collect the targeted amount of revenue, and the performance has been encouraging.
Accordingly, the Ministry said during the months of October and November alone 70.6 billion birr has been collected from domestic sources, which stands at 89.3 percent of the target. Moreover, from multilateral and bilateral development partners, in the form of aid and loans, $364 million has been obtained. $255.6 million in forex has also been obtained during the two months.
3.8 billion birr has been collected in the form of profits form government owned development organizations, the Ministry further noted.
Regarding government spending, the Ministry of Finance said the federal government has used up 73.3 billion birr, while 33.6 billion birr has been spent by regional governments, with a total of 106.9 billion birr. The Ministry said it has made the necessary follow up and ensured the money has been spent properly on priority areas.
Officials from the Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Plan and Development, as well as other ministerial offices have attended the review meeting of the 100-day performance of the Ministry of Finance, and provided feedback.
