The first mortgage bank in Ethiopia, Goh Betoch Bank, has officially started services in Addis Ababa. The bank has been established with the intent to fully focus on the provision of loans for house construction.
Adanech Abiebie, Mayor of Addis Ababa, speaking during the inauguration, said the bank will have a role to play in bridging the gap between demand and supply of housing in Addis Ababa.
Mrs. Adanech also thanked Goh Bank for donating 1.5 million birr in support of the city's efforts to repair and upgrade the houses of the elderly and low-income residents in Addis.
The Mayor vowed the city administration's support and follow-up for the establishment and operation of similar institutions that aim to transform the lives of citizens.
