Ethiopian Business Forum Held in India

The Ethiopian Embassy in India held a business forum on Tuesday, in collaboration with the Federation of Madhya Pradesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The forum focused on Ethiopia's investment, trade, and tourism potentials.

At the opening of the forum in Bhopal, capital of Madhya Pradesh, Tizita Mulugeta, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to India, thanked the Federation and its president Shri Dr Radha Sharan Goswami for organizing the forum and hosting her delegation in Bhopal.

Ambassador Tizita highlighted the forum's importance in acquainting the regions business community with the opportunities and potentials of investing and doing business in Ethiopia. She also explained the competitive advantage Ethiopia’s unique position offers, as it is situated conveniently in the midst of Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

Besides, Ambassador Tizita discussed, Ethiopia is striving to create a conducive investment atmosphere for international investors interested in investing in Ethiopia. Mentioning there are already over 500 Indian investors in Ethiopia currently, she extended an invitation to investors in Madhya Pradesh to come invest in Ethiopia.

Shri Dr Radha Sharan Goswami, Head of the Federation of Madhya Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Bhopal, for his part, thanking Ambassador Tizita, went on to explain the potentials of the Madhya Pradesh State as a source of investment and trade. He mentioned there are about 245 world-class pharmaceutical industries in the state, thirty of which are already engaged in exporting their products to Ethiopia.

During the forum, a presentation was given informing the participants of Ethiopia’s investment, trade and tourism potentials, followed by a Q and A session.

Towards the end of the forum, a separate discussion was held with investors who showed interest in exploring opportunities in Ethiopia.
