Ethiopian Business Forum Held in Doha, Qatar

ebf-dohaThe Ethiopia Business Forum (EBF 2020) has been held in Qatar yesterday, at the Doha Millennium Hotel. Investors, company owners, and representatives, members of the business community in Qatar, along with members of the diplomatic community in Qatar attended the event, the Ethiopian Embassy in Doha disclosed.

The Ethiopian Embassy joined hands with the Qatari company KON in organizing the event that was attended by 120 participants.

Samia Zakaria, Ethiopia's Ambassador to Qatar,  speaking during the opening of the forum, said investment and business ties between Ethiopia and Qatar are being strengthened to go hand in hand with the strong diplomatic ties the two countries enjoyed for long.

A trade agreement and investment expansion and protection agreement the two countries signed serve to show for the increasing trade ties between Ethiopia and Qatar, Ambassador Samia noted.

Zemedeneh Nigatu, Fairfax Africa Fund Global Chairman, made a presentation to the participants, titled, "Investing and Doing Business in Emerging Ethiopia." During his presentation, Mr. Zemedeneh highlighted Ethiopia's rapid economic growth, that it is Africa's manufacturing hub, its focus for fulfilling infrastructure including hydroelectric power generation, and its rapid ascent in ICT, including the satellite it launched recently as some of the key points that make the country favorable for investment. He also pointed out its strategic importance geographically, as Ethiopia is situated close to both the Middle East and Europe.

There has also been a Q and A session, and Qatari investors have expressed interest in investing in Ethiopia in the fields of trade, investment, and tourism.
